With more than 25 years of experience working to build healthy smiles among children, Dr. Shanock remains a popular and reputable pediatric dentist near Lido Beach. Coming from a long line of dentists, including his father, two uncles, and a cousin, he knew that he would one day spend his life serving others as part of the healthcare field. Believing he would pursue cardiology because of a science teacher who sparked his interest, he surprised everyone when he fell in love with computers and decided to enter the field of computer science.
While working as a programmer, he met his wife. After proposing, he decided he wanted to go back to school to enter into dentistry or cardiology. Since she preferred the former because of the hours and work-life balance it would allow, he enrolled at New York University College of Dentistry and earned his doctorate. During his second year of school, he spearheaded a program that allowed children in various shelters to be bussed in at no cost to receive free treatment.
His passion for helping others, especially children, led him to pursue pediatric dental specialty training before accepting an attending position at Bellevue Hospital. He also opened his private practice during this time with his wife serving as his office manager and assistant.
Dr. Shanock is a member of multiple professional organizations, including the American Dental Association, the New York Dental Association, the Academy of Laser Dentistry, and the American Academy of Pediatric Dentistry.
Outside the office, you’ll likely find him spending time with his wife, their dog, Lolita, and his in-laws. He enjoys vacationing in Hawaii and Peru and is always up for trying new restaurants. Dr. Shanock also devotes his time to his own YouTube channel “Dr. Glen’s Happy Eats.”
Dr. Tong is a general, cosmetic, and implant dentist near Lido Beach who appreciates the opportunity to build lasting relationships with patients. Recognizing his ability to work well with people while also possessing great technical skills he shadowed a dentist one day during his younger years, causing him to become intrigued by the results patients received after undergoing essential oral healthcare.
Once achieving his undergraduate degree at Binghampton University, he enrolled in the Buffalo School of Dental Medicine and received his doctorate. His residency program at NYC-Winthrop University included spending time as the chief resident, focusing on implantology, endodontics, and prosthodontics. Dr. Wong remains a part-time assistant professor at NYU-Winthrop Hospital, helping to mentor new residents.
He also spends much of his time participating in continuing education courses through Spear Education, and he is certified in diode laser treatment. Dr. Wong is also a member of the American Dental Association.
As a board-certified orthodontist near Lido Beach, Dr. Sarit received her Doctor of Dental Surgery at Universidad Iberoamericana, Dominican Republic. There, she graduated Magna Cum Laude. After moving to New York City, she completed her Advanced Education in General Dentistry program at Columbia University and served as a chief resident.
Dr. Sarit then moved to Philadelphia to undergo additional training in orthodontic and dentofacial orthopedics and complete a master’s degree in oral biology.
Her commitment to the field does not stop just because she has completed her formal education. Instead, she remains an active participant in taking various continuing education courses and is a member of the American Association of Orthodontists, the American Board of Orthodontics, the Northeastern Society of Orthodontists, the American Dental Association, and the Second District Dental Society of New York.
What a tough couple of days and I am, and will always be, deeply grateful to Dr. Glen and Lorena for being there for our daughter. An accident resulted in a fractured jaw, chipped tooth. two root canals and then bonding to restore her beautiful smile. All of this was able to be accomplished in less than 48 hours after the accident by Dr. Glen and an endodontic he was able to get another emergency appointment with. My daughter was able to return to school, smiling again, for her last week of classes before final exams. Dr. Glen is a terrific dentist AND he cares!

Calling a dentist’s office as opposed to emailing will always help you get a faster response. Typically, same-day appointments are reserved for emergency patients, so if you or a loved one has suffered a broken or knocked-out tooth or has lost a dental crown or filling, make sure to call right away. You’ll find that staff members will work quickly to get you in for an appointment so that professionals can help you out of pain.

If the idea of spending between $200-$350 for a dental checkup and cleaning doesn’t sound like something that’s within your budget, you’re not alone. Fortunately, most dental insurance companies offer coverage for these preventive services.
Consisting of a thorough examination, digital X-rays, and a professional cleaning, the cost can add up quickly, but if you plan to use your dental insurance to help cover the cost, you may be able to walk out and pay little to nothing at all.
Our dental team will review your plan to determine how much savings you can expect as well as go over alternative payment options should you be without a private dental insurance plan.
It starts with doing your research. Going to Google can be one of the best steps in finding a “family dentist near you,” or simply a “dentist near me.” You may have to look at a few different websites to get a better understanding of what a particular practice offers and who they cater to, but this should be fairly obvious once you reach the homepage or list of available services.
At Dr. Glen’s Happy Teeth, we not only see children and adults, but we also offer orthodontic solutions. With a pediatric dentist, general dentist, and orthodontist on staff, we can take care of the entire family all in one convenient location.
Being without private dental insurance or feeling as if you can’t afford to see a dentist can leave you wondering about the state of your oral and overall health. While it might seem like a good idea to forgo treatment until you can financially afford it, the reality is that neglecting regular oral healthcare will only lead to more invasive, complex, and costlier care.
Many dental offices offer alternative payment options if you do not have private dental insurance. Our dentists near Lido Beach are pleased to provide an in-house savings plan that allows you to sign up for one flat annual fee. In return, you receive dental exams and cleanings, X-rays, and other available services at a significantly reduced price. We also offer financing through Lending Tree, so you can apply for a low-or-no-interest payment plan and avoid paying high out-of-pocket costs upfront.
