Your child’s growing smile needs quite a bit of attention to stay happy and healthy. In addition to helping them brush and floss, you can keep their smile cavity-free with biannual visits to our office for a checkup and cleaning. At these appointments, we focus on two things: catching dental problems in the early stages and preventing others from developing in the future. If you’d like to learn more about what you and your child can expect, read on or get in touch with our team!
Unfortunately, the misconception that baby teeth don’t matter has become more widespread over the years. Although they do eventually fall out, they serve several important purposes, from helping your child chew and speak properly to holding a place for their adult teeth to come in. That’s why it’s of the utmost importance that you help them implement a solid oral hygiene routine and bring them in for a checkup and cleaning every six months. In addition to catching dental problems in the early stages and preventing others from developing, we can answer any questions you have and provide personalized recommendations on how to keep their smile healthy from home!
Our team wants every child’s experience at our office to be positive and comfortable. After welcoming them into our fun dental office, we will guide them back to one of our treatment rooms. We’ll ensure they’re comfortable in the chair and ask them a few questions to get to know them better. Then, they’ll meet with Dr. Glen, our board-certified pediatric dentist in Long Beach. He will make them feel at ease before gently and carefully examining their teeth and gums. If he notices any problems, like tooth decay, he will bring them to your attention and discuss the available treatment options. Otherwise, we will see if your child feels comfortable with a dental cleaning and get started on that!
During the cleaning portion of your child’s visit, one of our talented team members will gently clean, floss, and polish their teeth. Along the way, they can share pointers on how they can care for their teeth at home and tell them more about the importance of oral health. At the end of your child’s visit, they will have a smile that is as healthy and clean as it is beautiful!
